Introduction: Having been led, by the grace of God, to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and having been baptized upon our profession of faith, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, relying on His gracious aid, solemnly and joyfully enter into and or renew our covenant with each other.
Four Commitments:
We will GATHER regularly with the local body of believers of which we are members in order to rejoice in the gospel and glorify God through Christian fellowship, corporate worship, listening and responding to the preaching of God’s Word, participation in the sacraments, confession of our sins and gracious correction of the sins of others, and mutual prayer and encouragement among the saints, (Prov. 27:17; Ecc. 4:9-12; Acts 2:42-47; Col. 3:15-17; Heb. 10:19-25).
We will GROW in our capacity to love God and love people alongside Christian brothers and sisters; being continuously transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit as we devote ourselves to spiritual disciplines such as Bible intake, family worship, prayer, fasting, discipleship, evangelism, confession, accountability, and humble repentance, (1 Cor. 3:1-3; Heb. 5:12-14; 1 Pet. 2:2-3; 2 Pet. 1:1-11).
We will GIVE our time, giftedness, and resources as a loving and cheerful act of worship and in light of what God has given to us; trusting in God’s providential care as we surrender all that we have and all that we are for the glory of God and the benefit of His people, (Duet. 8:18, 15:12, 16:17; 1 Sam. 16:7b; Prov. 3:9-10, 11:24-25, 16:2, 18:16, 21:25-26; Hag. 2:8; Mal. 3:10; Matt. 6:2-4, 19-21; Mark 12:41-44; Lk. 6:30-33; Jn. 3:16, Acts 2:42-47, 4:32-35; Rom. 12:1, 1 Cor. 16:1-2; 2 Cor. 8:1-5, 9:6-8, Gal. 6:10; 1 Tim. 6:17-19; 1 Jn. 1:18, 3:17).
We will GO near and far, being empowered by the Holy Spirit to share the good news of salvation, in obedience to the call of the Lord Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations, (Matt. 28:18-20, Acts 4:13, 2 Cor. 5:14-21, Col. 1:15-20, Phil. 1:21, 1 Tim. 2:3-6).
Benediction: Romans 16:25–27: Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith—to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen. (ESV)
